While trying to think of what I could say about Mike & Sarah, I was flooded with thoughts of how amazing these two are. Mike and Sarah were married in St. Joe, Michigan at Silver Beach last weekend; the ceremony and accompanying reception were beautiful (and fun). The day started as a cool grey morning. We were a little worried that the day might get a little soggy, but the rain only lasted for about 5 minutes, and by the time Mike & Sarah were looking in each other’s eyes saying their vows, the sun was out … and the day was absolutely beautiful. Some people think rain on your wedding day is bad luck … but I found an interesting saying: “A wet knot is harder to untie” … So, let it rain a little bit on the big day.
Mike & Sarah, thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding. You two are fabulous. We hope you are enjoying your honeymoon, and we can’t wait to show you part II!

J and I started the day off at Affinity Salon & Spa.

After the salon, J headed off to hang out with the guys for a bit while I tagged along with the ladies.

After the guys were all done getting ready, they headed off to the John Howard Band Shell … but not before stopping at a hotdog stand for a little snack before the ceremony.

While J was with the guys … I was with the ladies back at Shadowland Ball Room so Sarah could get into her dress and finish the last minute details.

I still can’t decide if Sarah’s dress or shoes were my favorite. Maybe I’ll pick both!

Sarah’s bridesmaids (including her 3 sisters) helped her into her gorgeous dress.

After the ladies were ready, we jumped on the party trolley for our short trip up onto the bluff for the ceremony. The party trolley was such a wonderful idea. Our driver, Jeff, was so amazing. His iPod playlist ensured that everyone had a great time!

Mike & the guys were waiting at the band shell for the ceremony to begin. J caught this moment between Mike & his dad … as well as Sarah’s dad anxiously waiting to see his daughter.

Here we go!
I love this shot from two perspectives. J’s is on the left, mine is on the right.

Mike told Sarah that if she made it through the whole weekend without crying, he would let her get another Pug (a little brother/sister for their Pug, Olive). Long story short, Sarah got a little teary-eyed throughout the day … but I think Mike might have too once he saw his bride walking down the aisle. Sarah, I think that means it cancels out and you two should get another Pug!! Such a sweet moment.

The Mr. & Mrs.

I love this one!

After the ceremony, we hopped on the party trolley so we could go take the formal shots (coming up in part II).

This is a great image to wrap up part I. We stopped the trolley for a champagne toast! If you look closely at the image on the left, you can see the cork!

Stay tuned for part II later this week!
Jim + Ravyn Photographers
By Ravyn StadickAs most of you know, my husband, Jim, is a huge part of my business. Not only does he carry all of my heavy bags, but he also makes about 1/2 of the beautiful images on my blog. He’s been my permanent 2nd shooter since the very first wedding we shot together, and we’ve had such a great time working together. As most businesses, we look at our business as an evolution. Things are changing as we go … which is a really good thing.
Here’s a sneak peek of a wedding that I second shot a few weeks ago. You can see the full post on the new blog!
