Jim + Ravyn Photographers

By Ravyn Stadick

As most of you know, my husband, Jim, is a huge part of my business. Not only does he carry all of my heavy bags, but he also makes about 1/2 of the beautiful images on my blog. He’s been my permanent 2nd shooter since the very first wedding we shot together, and we’ve had such a great time working together. As most businesses, we look at our business as an evolution. Things are changing as we go … which is a really good thing.

This weekend, we are officially launching our new wedding photography site: Jim + Ravyn Photographers. All things related to engagements, couples and weddings can now be found at www.jimandravyn.com.
This is a huge deal for us. We absolutely love working together, and creating our new brand and site has been so much fun.
Of course, I will still be updating my personal photography blog with portrait sessions, but all things wedding will be on the new site. If you get a chance, we would love it if you’d go check out our new site … There is lots of fun info about us, and of course, some fun images of our awesome clients. Our approach to wedding photography is that it should be fun, fresh and all about you!
I have to send a huge shout out to all of my 2010 brides. You girls have been my biggest advocates and best cheer leaders. I can’t even tell you the number of potential clients that email me because you referred them! I love that … Keep ‘em coming!
Jim and I are so excited that our business is growing and we can only imagine what the next year has in store. We would love it if you would bookmark our new site and check in from time to time.
We hope all of you are having a wonderful summer.
PS, We might be announcing a mini-session weekend soon! Be sure to check both blogs in the next week or so!

Here’s a sneak peek of a wedding that I second shot a few weeks ago. You can see the full post on the new blog!

Mike & Sarah:: Married – Part II

By Ravyn Stadick

When we left off with Mike & Sarah’s wedding part I, they were getting on their party trolley right after the ceremony. We took the trolley to the beach for photos with M & S and the bridal party. Of course, it was awesome … but only because this wedding party was awesome.

Thanks to J for this shot.

Sarah and her beautiful sisters

Mike & his groomsmen clean up pretty nicely!

We sent the wedding party down to the bottom of the dune to be a cheering section for Mike & Sarah … M & S were totally working it for their portraits. You’d think they just got married or something :o )

This might be my favorite!

Sarah … you were such a gorgeous bride! You deserve a few of your own!

Okay, maybe this one is my favorite!

Once we were done with the photos at the beach, we hopped back on the trolley to head to Shadowland Ballroom for the reception.

Mike & Sarah’s first dance was perfect …

Both Mike and Sarah’s dads gave very heartwarming speeches … I might have teared up a little bit. It was so cute!

Chelsea & Steve giving their speeches.

Mike & Sarah were able to ride the carousel with all of their wedding guests towards the end of the night. It was definitely a good time!

Mike & Sarah:: Married – Part I

By Ravyn Stadick

While trying to think of what I could say about Mike & Sarah, I was flooded with thoughts of how amazing these two are. Mike and Sarah were married in St. Joe, Michigan at Silver Beach last weekend; the ceremony and accompanying reception were beautiful (and fun). The day started as a cool grey morning. We were a little worried that the day might get a little soggy, but the rain only lasted for about 5 minutes, and by the time Mike & Sarah were looking in each other’s eyes saying their vows, the sun was out … and the day was absolutely beautiful. Some people think rain on your wedding day is bad luck … but I found an interesting saying: “A wet knot is harder to untie” … So, let it rain a little bit on the big day.

Mike & Sarah, thank you for letting us be a part of your wedding. You two are fabulous. We hope you are enjoying your honeymoon, and we can’t wait to show you part II!

J and I started the day off at Affinity Salon & Spa.

After the salon, J headed off to hang out with the guys for a bit while I tagged along with the ladies.

After the guys were all done getting ready, they headed off to the John Howard Band Shell … but not before stopping at a hotdog stand for a little snack before the ceremony.

While J was with the guys … I was with the ladies back at Shadowland Ball Room so Sarah could get into her dress and finish the last minute details.

I still can’t decide if Sarah’s dress or shoes were my favorite. Maybe I’ll pick both!

Sarah’s bridesmaids (including her 3 sisters) helped her into her gorgeous dress.

After the ladies were ready, we jumped on the party trolley for our short trip up onto the bluff for the ceremony. The party trolley was such a wonderful idea. Our driver, Jeff, was so amazing. His iPod playlist ensured that everyone had a great time!

Mike & the guys were waiting at the band shell for the ceremony to begin. J caught this moment between Mike & his dad … as well as Sarah’s dad anxiously waiting to see his daughter.

Here we go!

I love this shot from two perspectives. J’s is on the left, mine is on the right.

Mike told Sarah that if she made it through the whole weekend without crying, he would let her get another Pug (a little brother/sister for their Pug, Olive). Long story short, Sarah got a little teary-eyed throughout the day … but I think Mike might have too once he saw his bride walking down the aisle. Sarah, I think that means it cancels out and you two should get another Pug!! Such a sweet moment.

The Mr. & Mrs.

I love this one!

After the ceremony, we hopped on the party trolley so we could go take the formal shots (coming up in part II).

This is a great image to wrap up part I. We stopped the trolley for a champagne toast! If you look closely at the image on the left, you can see the cork!

Stay tuned for part II later this week!

Wedding Books:: Jerry & Laura

By Ravyn Stadick

Okay, so let’s be real. When I talked about my giddiness a few weeks ago regarding the FedEx man pulling into the driveway to deliver my new CD cases, I had no idea how excited I would be when they delivered my first wedding book. This amazing little wedding book was created for Jerry & Laura, and I love how it turned out. I’m only sharing a few images since they haven’t seen the album yet … plus I have to give them a little something to build the suspense.

I offer these linen books in all of my wedding packages. Not only are they a great way to showcase your wedding photos, but these would also be a wonderful addition to your engagement session. Instead of a traditional guest book at the wedding, your guests could sign around the photos in your book. The pages of the books are super thick and they print quality is gorgeous. This same company offers leather versions on these albums that have even thicker pages. Ask about adding one of these books to your wedding package or any other photography session. You’ll love them as much as I do, I promise!

Each album comes in its own cloth sleeve that protects your book.

I didn’t want to give too much of the album away, but I just loved these two series of photos.
